We understand that everyone has their own personal art styles, so we don’t want to create a narrow lane for everyone to aim for but rather quite open while still looking for what aligns with our visual direction.

Community has been a key piece that we have placed a renewed focus on in 2023, relaunching one of our favourite series in The Odd, The Beautiful, as well as launching our In Conversation with series that highlights a range of creatives and members of our wider community. With this competition we want to make it a focus to highlight members of the ILU artist community, to offer a platform for you to be highlighted for your talents as an artist.

Open to artists and designers world-wide.

 

Be in to win:

The winning artwork will be put into production for release as part of the May 2024 Collection.

The winner will also receive an ILU wardrobe worth $1000, and an hour long 1 on 1 mentoring session with Valentin Ozich, Founder of I Love Ugly.

The top 3 artworks will also be developed into A2 prints to be available in limited quantities.

The 2 runner-ups will win an ILU wardrobe worth $500 each.

Eligibility

The competition is open to artists and designers worldwide.

Participants must be 18 years or older to enter, or have parent/guardian consent upon submission. (This may seem silly but it's a legal requirement.

Artwork Requirements

Artwork should reflect the unique style and aesthetic of the artist.

Any medium is acceptable, including digital art, illustrations, paintings, and graphic designs. We have supplied a blank Tee + Hood file for you to place your designs on.

Submissions must be original creations. Either created in the past or during the competition timeframe.

Submission Process

Artwork submissions must be digital files, in high quality jpg or png formats.

Participants should send their submissions to the dedicated email address - artists@iloveugly.net

Each submission should include a title, brief description, and the artist's contact information.

Judging Criteria

Creativity and originality: How innovative and distinct is the artwork?

Does the artwork align with I Love Ugly's brand image and values?

Relevance to fashion: Can the artwork be translated into a garment design?

The top 3 artworks will then be put forward to the community to vote on the artwork that they want to see put into production.

All decisions are final.

Prizes

Winning artwork will be put into production for release as part of the May 2024 Collection.

The winner will also receive an ILU wardrobe worth $1000.

Winner receives a 1 on 1 mentoring session or general chat for an hour with Valentin Ozich, Founder of I Love Ugly.

Intellectual Property

Winning artists grant the rights to I Love Ugly for their submitted artwork.

If chosen as a winner you grant the right to reproduce the artwork as well as use on garments designed by I Love Ugly with proper credit given.

Any artwork not deemed to be a winning piece by our community will not be used by I Love Ugly in any capacity without proper compensation negotiated with the artist.
